Greetings Dear Readers !

Sharing some great news ! Consumer Online Foundation has further gone global as it is now a Member of the International Alliance of Patient's Organisation. IAPO has official relationship with WHO, which now allows PSM India Initiative to participate officially within the activities of WHO as a INGO.
Thanks to all for making this happen and I am sure it will strengthen our work on Patient Safety and Access to Quality Healthcare to all.

We kick started the year with sharing great knowledge and learning with our neighboring country during the PSM India Initiative interaction with the 19 member China delegation on 17th January, The delegation went back impressed with the work we had done so far on Patient Safety.

Today’s newsletter also shares one of India’s largest studies on the presence of heavy metals in cosmetics. The study has emerged with a startling finding. Do read our Pharma Injections section to know all about it.

MANGALORE, January 2014: The members of Karnataka Ayurvedic & Unani Practitioners' Board, Bangalore, with the help of city police raided a clinic and a dispensary at State Bank here on Saturday January 18 and arrested two quacks or fake doctors.

FDA, Health Department bust illegal blood trade in Rewari
CHANDIGARH, January 2014: In a joint operation, the Food and Drugs Administration and the Health department today claimed to have busted an illegal blood transfusion racket and seized blood from two private hospitals in Haryana's Rewari district. A case has been registered against the two hospitals, an official spokesman said.

Panel to probe patient’s death in Neyyattinkara taluk hospital
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, January 2014: A committee, headed by the Health Secretary and including the State Drugs Controller, the Director of Health Services, and the Additional Director of Health Services (Vigilance), will inquire into the death of a patient at the Neyyattinkara taluk hospital on Thursday. Sunilkumar, 39, who had been undergoing treatment, had died allegedly following the administration of an antibiotic injection.

KATHMANDU, January 2014: A police team deployed from the Narcotic Drugs Control Bureau (NDCB), New Baneshwor has rounded up two youths with pharmaceutical drugs on Tuesday. The arrestees are Suren Nagarkoti (20), and Sharmik Nagarkoti (23) of Ramechhap, currently residing in Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan, police said today.
